Mr. Cox is starting his inaugural year at Cornerstone having served over fifteen years in Christian education including Headmaster and Principal positions at several classical Christian schools. He has been teaching in Christian schools and ministries for over twenty years at both the K-12 and collegiate level. He is currently serving as a theologian and consultant with Ligonier Ministries - an international Christian ministry established by theologian Dr. R.C. Sproul. Mark is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Glasgow in Scotland where he is studying Theology with an emphasis in Education. He holds an M.A. in Theology from Reformed Theological Seminary, as well as a B.A. in Humanities and Biblical Studies from Point University.
Michelle Blount has served in the Secretary capacity at Cornerstone since 2016. She received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1997. Mrs. Blount and her husband Ronnie are members of Dalraida Baptist Church, where she serves in the youth and women's ministries. The Blount's are the proud parents of two young men, Charlie and Sam, who are both students at Cornerstone.
Angie Martin received an B. S. degree in education from Auburn University and a Master of Music degree from the University of Alabama. She joined Cornerstone's faculty in 2017 with 17 years of experience teaching in the Classical Christian tradition. She and her husband, John, have 3 adult children. They attend Trinity Presbyterian Church where they enjoy singing in the Chancel Choir.
Jordan Rae Gaines has been teaching first grade at Cornerstone for eight years. She received a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in English with an Education minor from Auburn Montgomery and a Master of Letters in Liberal Arts focusing on Classical Christian education. During her undergraduate work, Mrs. Gaines taught English as a Second Language to elementary, college, and continuing education students in northern China and Montgomery. She and her husband, Austin Gaines, attend 2Cities Church in downtown Montgomery. They have one daughter, Emma Louise, and are excited to have welcomed their son, Townes, to their family just this past May.
Jennifer Graham graduated from Auburn University in Montgomery in 1993 with a BS degree. She has been teaching 2nd grade at Cornerstone for six years. Jennifer is wife to Greg, a Lay Pastor at Morningview Baptist Church who served on the founding committee for Cornerstone. Jennifer is mother to Andrew (2015 graduate of CCCA), Anna Grace (12th grade) and Elijah (6th grade). She has a passion and love for children and is in her 18th year serving as Preschool Director for Morningview. She loves to spend time with family and friends, read, travel and host fellowships in their home.
Michele Hough holds an elementary education degree from the University of Mobile. Michele has served in various ways in the ministry of Cornerstone over the past ten years. She has been a board member and a dedicated parent volunteer as well as a second grade teacher. Michele’s love for the Lord and her students is contagious! Michele and her husband Judd are members of Morningview Baptist Church. They chair the missions committee at the church. The Hough’s three daughters are all students at Cornerstone.
Christy Taunton has taught for over 17 years and has served at Cornerstone for the past nine. Christy enjoys teaching with classical methodology and her creative flair has been a blessing to all of the teachers on our staff. The Taunton family attends Trinity Presbyterian Church where the family participates in the music and youth ministries. The Tauntons have three children Matthew (2016) and Hannah (2018), both are CCCA graduates, and Elizabeth (10th).
Donna Barrs earned a Masters degree in elementary education from Auburn Montgomery. She has 35 years of teaching experience in both public and private schools. Her most recent assignment was at Lighthouse Christian Academy as the fourth grade teacher. Mrs. Barrs is a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she sings in the choir and co-leads the Stephen Ministry. She and her husband Mark have two young adult sons.
Mona Robinson attended Pensacola Christian College where she earned at BS in elementary education. Mona has taught for over twenty-five years; the last twelve in the sixth grade at Cornerstone. As a veteran teacher Mona’s understanding of classical methodology and her passion for helping students acquire a Biblical worldview has served as the capstone for our elementary school. Mona and her husband Steve attend Heritage Baptist Church where they both participate in the music ministry. The Robinsons have two grown children and three grandchildren.
Addie DePace has taught over the years in several different venues. She has been and is actively involved in homeschooling her children who range in age from 24 to 16. Addie’s experience in teaching at Tall Oaks Classical School in Delaware gave her a love for and expertise in teaching Latin. She believes that Latin is a great source of enrichment for the classically educated student. Addie is married to Reed DePace who serves as senior pastor at The Church at Chantilly in Pike Road.
Anita McFarland joined the Cornerstone faculty to teach Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric Art and Yearbook. Anita studied Art and Art History at Oklahoma Christian University and later completed a course of study in Photography with the New York Institute of Photography. Anita has more than fifteen years of experience as a professional photographer specializing in children’s portraiture. Anita and her husband Rob have four children (Ian, Lily, Seth, and Silas). She and her family are members of the Landmark Church of Christ in Montgomery. She has been a parent at Cornerstone for seven years. Anita also serves on the Board of the Montgomery Area Down Syndrome Outreach Group..
Jessica Head received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Mobile. She enjoys instilling a love for music in all of her students. Jessica is wife to Trey, who serves as worship director at Morningview Baptist Church. They have one daughter, Eleanor.
Priscilla Stewart attended Belhaven University in Jackson, MS where she earned at BA in Christian education. Priscilla has taught for over twenty-five years; the last twelve at Cornerstone. As a veteran educator Priscilla’s understanding of classical methodology and her passion for helping students and ministering to parents to acquire a Biblical worldview has served as the capstone for our school. Priscilla and her husband John attend The Church at Chantilly where they both serve in various capacities. The Stewarts have ten grown children and twelve grandchildren.
Melissa Price, a Montgomery native, graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude) from Auburn Montgomery with her BS degree in 2004. One of her greatest passions in life is teaching young people that they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them. She taught in the Grammar School for four years and is now joining our School of Logic. Melissa is married to Ennis Price, and together they have two children who attend Cornerstone. The Price family worships at Landmark Church of Christ.
Cody Floate graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2016 with a Masters of Divinity in Christian Ministries with a focus on New Testament Greek. His passion is to see all people, and particularly the students at Cornerstone, come to a greater understanding of Christ and His Word, as well as to see the joy of understanding the original language in which the New Testament was written. On top of teaching at Cornerstone, he also serves as a Pastoral Intern at Morningview Baptist Church.
Kees Kalonick graduated from Faulkner University in 2015 with a BA in English. He worked as an adjunct professor of English at Faulkner for two years and as a writing tutor for four years. Kees has a passion for stories in all their forms and seeks to instill that passion in his students. Similarly, he believes that philosophy can deepen and strengthen faith and brings that belief to his classroom. Kees has been married for two years, and worships at Hunter Hills church of Christ.
Kristen Alston worked for two years doing research for an organic chemistry professor at the University of South Alabama before earning her BS in Chemical Engineering. Since she has earned her professional engineer license in the state of Alabama. Kristen instructs our Logic & Rhetoric students in sciences and math. She is married to Dr. Johnnie Alston, and they have four Cornerstone students, Owen, Brodie, Ansley, and Abigail. The family attends Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery.
Cornerstone Classical Christian Academy was born out of the vision of Morningview Baptist Church. Morningview is a Southern Baptist church located in historic Montgomery, Alabama.
